SUMMARY:
Disguise, the leading fashion driven Halloween Costume and Accessory Company is searching for a highly experienced, seasoned Design Director to oversee and manage its Costume, Sculpting and Graphics teams. This position reports to the VP of Product Design & Marketing and is responsible for directing the vision and execution of the company’s vast product lines and face to the consumer.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role manages the scheduling, workload, planning, process and strategies of three 6+ person departments: Design, Sculpt and Creative Services. The Design Director is responsible for team development, training and fostering communication within the department, and facilitating communication and work process between all departments in the company. Candidate must possess a strong dynamic in order to maintain the development schedule and drive innovation to keep the product line fresh and relevant to this trend sensitive market. In addition, this person must have a business sense that understands cost of goods, gross margin and sales information.
This position interfaces with Marketing, Product Management, Manufacturing & Sales within the company, and licensors, & retailers outside the company.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:
* Extensive management experience with a minimum of 5 direct reports in a creative environment
* Must be able to schedule and plan hundreds of styles in a given season, working 12 months out
* Must be an organized, collaborative, and team-oriented individual who can make deadlines happen and can change course on a moments notice
* Ability to communicate strategic vision and ensure that it is carried out
* Experience working at an Executive level
* Strong ability to lead, develop and retain talent
* Must be process oriented while continuing to manage and inspire a Creative Team.
* Capacity to handle over 500 new products each year.
* Experience working with multiple licensed products.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
* Flexible and open minded with the ability to problem solve
* Creative and fashion vision and implementation skills
* Great eye for design and style with emphasis on fabrication and fit
* Understanding of textile construction, color and printing techniques.
* Ability to interpret trends and translate them to customer.
* Experience in graphics, catalog, retail signage
* Ability to direct packaging design and construction
